New Scream album due this year.
The February issue of Uncut magazine reports about the forthcoming Scream album due in April or May: Bobby talks of what they've been doing, what it'll sound like and who's on it. According to the man himself it's to be a pop album (but does say Burning Wheel is pop to him), whereas RCB was bluesy, with structured verses and big choruses and an 'up' feel. Lovefoxx from CSS sings on one song and Little Barrie does slide on another. All the demos are done and they're finding the right producer to do it right. Here is the full article.

More about the album
Here is what Digital Spy has reported:
CSS singer Lovefoxxx and Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie are to record a duet.

The track, which Gillespie describes as "...electronic psychedelia and almost John Lennon-y", will be placed on Primal Scream's new album, due out later this year. The pair decided to collaborate after they played the same event in Lovefoxxx's hometown of Sao Paolo.

Gillespie told NME: "(CSS) were playing at the same festival as us. We ended up hanging out with them, having a great night - us and them. We stayed up all night playing music and chatting."

He added: "I went to see them at the Astoria (in London) and I think I asked her (to duet) then. Then I wrote her an email and sent her the song and she was really into it."

The singer described the upcoming track, saying: "It's about a destructive relationship, I guess. It's not an 'up' kind of song, it's a very, very dark-sounding track, really intense."

Here is what Bobby told NME:
"I went to see them at the Astoria (in London) and I think I asked her then. Then I wrote her an email and sent her the song and she was really into it," he explained.

The song has been described as a mesh of electronica with a psychedelic vibe, which Gillespie claims "sounds fucking great".

Lovefoxxx recorded the track in the autumn of 2007 and it will feature on Primal Scream's next record, due out later this year.

ÔLondon Calling Ð Remembering Joe Strummer,' has been organised by Geoff Martin, the director of the Left Field Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.

ÒWe wanted to mark the fifth anniversary of Joe Strummer's death with a unique event that marks the positive impact that his life had on so many of us. Brixton JAMM will be the place to be,Ó he said.

The supergroup, known as the Strummerville Collective, will also feature Jamie T and members of Paul Weller's band.

"Money raised will be shared by Strummerville Ð the Joe Strummer Foundation for new music Ð and RAR08 which will be fighting to stop the BNP in the run up to next May's London elections,Ó Martin added.

The Scream played a greatest hits set at this years V Festival. Freebase: Indie's first supergroup?
New Order's bassist Peter Hook is working with two other great British bass players: former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and former Stone Rose and Primal Scream bassist Mani.

The speculated supergroup appears to have come to fruition with Hooky talking online that they've named themselves Freebase.

Peter Hook has been talking about the group to various sites; telling us a bit more about what the new material will sound like, he explains, "As for the music itself, it's a really weird cross between northern soul, reggae, New Order, Stones Roses and the Smiths. The three basses work together on a few tracks, which I was delighted about, because everyone was laughing at us for wanting to do it."

The supergroup is still searching for a singer, and in an interview on music site higher-frequency.com, Peter Hook jokes about their attitude.

"Mani said, ÔWe've gotta find somebody who's unknown, Hooky, so we can fuckin' persecute him!' So we're looking for someone who we can persecute, for all our years of persecution!"

Hook speculates that Freebase might have settled on someone, saying, "We've found a kid in Wigan, he's been in a few bands before, and he's done a couple of tracks, a couple of ideas that were really good."

The three bassists have apparently got 17 songs written, so hopefully we'll be hearing something soon.
