Gillespie teams up with New Order
Primal Scream's BOBBY
GILLESPIE has teamed up WIth
NEW ORDER to sing backing
vocals for the band's forthcoming
Peel session.
New Order recorded 'True Faith',
'Isolation', 'Atmosphere' and 'Touched
By The Hand Of God' last week for
Peel's Radio 1 show, which will be
broadcast on December30 at 10pm.
A spokeswoman for New Order said
Gillespie, a long-time friend of New
Order's lead singer Bernard Sumner, had
sung on two tracks.
She continued: "It was a totally
unplanned thing. Bobby just turned up at
the studio with Innes (Primal Scream
guitarist) pissed at 5am and they just did
it. New Order are really pleased with the
session."

Insect Royalty
Primal Scream's "Insect Royalty" song is featured in the Irvine Welsh film "The Acid House." The soundtrack was released on Monday, November 9th in the UK. It's apparently an instrumental version unlike the versions they've been playing live, which features Bob's vocals.

Mani Leaving?
According to an Ian Brown article in yesterday's (16 August 1998) 'Independent on Sunday'
newspaper, Mani may be leaving the Scream. It didn't give a lot away though,
simply reading "For the real Stone Roses fan, Mani (now with Primal Scream
but possibly leaving)....

Primes playing the US Phoenix Festival???
Apparently the Phoenix Festival, which got cancelled in the UK, may come to New York, in
September. And Primal Scream's named was mentioned as one of the bands. This one heard on a Detroit Radio station by a new recruit. So I'm not sure if this means a US tour or not. Keep your fingers crossed.
That Primal Scream Biography thing again
I forgot to mention. It's called Primal Scream - An Illustrated Biography by Stuart Coles (Omnibus Press). It's 9" x 11 1/2" in size. 64 pages. Lots of nice Pics. It "appears" as though he used many articles on Webadelica as resource material :) he "definatley" got the discography which appears in it from Webadelica, mistakes and all :] A credit would have been nice though!
Well anyways i think both this book and the Higher than the Sun book list US distributors so fans in the US can find it at a Barnes and Noble , Border's and others can get them. I'm sure HMV in the UK has both too.
Bob Speaks!
I found this Australian multimedia cd-rom magazine in Barnes and Noble and it has a Primal Scream feature where you walk towards these pictures of Primal Scream on the wall in this 3-d environment and as you walk up to the picture, questions appear on the wall and you click on them and Bob answers it. (i just had to buy it didn't i?) they ask Bob like 10 questions i guess. kinda interesting i suppose. i want to put this up on webadelica if i can figure out how to access the hidden sound files. On yeah it's called Undercover -rock on multimedia, issue 8. It should be available in Australia (du'h), US and the UK. Check out their website

Angela tells me that she saw Bobby on Monday June 15 at the Jesus and Marychain show in SF. I wonder if my Sub Pop theory is right? (see below)
Creamadelica
Primal Scream played Creamfields on May 2nd. Here's a report from Public
NME 16 May 1998.
And finally, the year's first festival was tragically turned from a
happy-happy-joy-joy
event drawing together one nation under THE BLOKE FROM LES RYTHMES
DIGITALES' luminous red hairdo (a shade so bright that no-one realised
the sun had set until 2am) into a heartless fish massacre. Apparently,
PRIMAL SCREAM were running around the backstage area of Creamfields
playing with some fun new catapults and steel ball bearings that they'd
been given by a fan when they spotted a large tank full of tropical fish
in one of the hospitality tents. They immediately set about seeing who
could catapult the most fish, forgetting that glass, being quite brittle
stuff, tends to smash when peppered with large chunks of metal at high
speeds. Cue a stream-full of very expensive fish suddenly being
expected to evolve very quickly indeed. Ciao for now...
Underworld remixes Primal Scream?
*Update*
Apparently, previously unreleased Underworld remix of a Primal Scream song apears on a new Junior Boys Own compilation, it's called JBO - A
Perspective 1988-1998. The song is "Come Together" and I can't confirm whether it's a underworld remix or the version from "Screamadelica"
[Thanks Chris P.]
Rod Stewart "Rocks" out
Rod Stewart's new album featues a cover of "Rocks". It's called "When we
were the Boys" and is out now. Apparently he played it live on The
Tonight Show ith Jay Leno here in the US. I missed it though. Someone
told me it wasn't that good.
Dr. John vs. Primal Scream
Dr. John's new album called "Anutha Zone" came out on June 15 and
features contributions from Primal Scream. I understand Martin Duffy
played Keyboards on some tracks.
ADF vs. Primal Scream
The Asian Dub Foundation's album RAFI's Revenge on ffrr features the
production work of Andrew Innes on several tracks apparently. It's out
now.
Primal Scream Biography
The new Primal Scream illustrated biography is out now. It appears Webadelica may have been an invaluable source of supplying research material for it : ) Though a credit would have been nice!
Primal Scream sign to Sub Pop in the US????
Well 2 Creation records bands, The Jesus and Mary Chain and St. Etienne,
have signed with Sub Pop Records in the US. So I have agut feeling maybe
the Scream will sign with them too. [THIS IS ONLY A THEORY OF MINE]
