Astralwerks unleashes Primal Scream
Astralwerks Records proudly announces we will be unleashing the recording
talents of the legendary Primal Scream for the United States. With their
forthcoming album, XTRMNTR, Primal Scream have further defined themselves
as the uncontested agent provocateurs of contemporary music. XTRMNTR is
both engaging and unsettling, coupling its counter-cultural cues with a
musical and lyrical manifesto that demands attention. Sounding like nothing
else on earth, Primal Scream's 6th studio album finds Britain's greatest
rock-n-roll anarchists at their fucked up and angry best. The most
uncompromising record you'll hear all year, XTRMNTR is the sound of a band
hurtling into the new century with a snarling sense of fearlessness.
The album features Bobby Gillespie (vocals), Gary "Mani" Mounfield (he of
the devil bass and ex of the Stone Roses), Robert "Throb" Young (guitar),
Andrew Innes (guitar), and Martin Duffy (piano). It also includes an
all-star cast of prime talent: Irish DJ-turned-producer David Holmes,
Scream producer Brendan Lynch, My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields,
Screamadelica collaborator Hugo Nichols, The Automator (Dr Octagon,
Handsome Boy Modeling School), Jagz Kooner (ex Sabres Of Paradise), the
globe-conquering Chemical Brothers, dub-master Adrian Sherwood, New Order's
Bernard Sumner, Death In Vegas co-pilot Tim Holmes, brass by Jim Hunt &
Duncan Mackay, and drums by Darrin Mooney.
Anti-authoritarian, anti-establishment & anti-apathy, this is the Scream's
most socially aware album yet- and one of the most energetic and vital
albums of the past twenty years. XTRMNTR is tentatively scheduled for
release in early May 2000. Look for a tour late Spring that will feature
the Scream in all their glory with a fully augmented line-up that will
include Kevin Shields.
