Slip Inside This House - "we blew your minds....." sample

I just purchased the Sly Stone Woodstock Experience cd which came with Stand! as it's 2nd disc. Whilst I know most of the tracks off of that album I had never heard their 13 min instrumental track 'Sex Machine'. Right at the very end of the song you hear some one say "we blew your minds....." with some echo on it.

I recognise that!

Stuck on 'Slip Inside This House' from Screamadelica and right at the close of the song there's those very same words. Never knew they'd sampled that from Sly.

Is this old news? Probably is but it's funny how after 18 years I'm still finding new things out about Screamadelica.

As for the Sly Stone Woodstock Experience. BUY IT!! It's amazing. 3.30am and blowing the minds of the hippie hoardes with their propulsive funk and high times attitude.

Johnnyboy: alright youngster!  Absolutely spot-on with the SLY STONE comments ... Woodstock Experience disk is awesome! In exactly the same vein, here are a couple of other very similar recommendations, which I've been hittin' hard recently:

Both '71 cuts; both awesome ...

DerekB: quick question - are you watching the WATTSTAX REGION 1 DVD? That's the only version I've been able to track down. I have the 3CD WATTSTAX: THE LIVING WORD boxset ... but I kinda live in hope that film footage of all these artists is kickin' about and will see the light of day soon ....

You, too buddy!  It was great to catch-up after all this time on the forum.

WOODEN SHJIPS were pretty good ... maybe not quite the mind-blowing experience I'd been hoping for; but not too shabby nonetheless!

Not sure you missed too much at the ROKY ERICKSON gig the following night ... couple of ELEVATORS songs (YOU'RE GONNA MISS ME and SPLASH 1) which were really great amidst the usual favourites from his solo work (I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE being the single song encore in a one-hour set).

Crowd was way less than capacity and pretty indifferent throughout ... kinda sad in a way. Overall, not a patch on the Houston show I saw in June.

I assume you'll be attending one or both of the RAW POWER gigs? I'm looking at going the first night. Up for it? It'll be the same dafties down from Glasgow as were at THE WOODEN SHJIPS.
